Working with Lucy Charles-Barclay - World Champion Triathlete

I first started working with Lucy Charles Barclay (LCB) in 2017, I was introduced to Lucy and Reece by Mr Adam Baker (another client of mine).

At first the treatment for both was preventative, just keeping them healthy and helping them to continue training hard.

We have worked through a couple of setbacks with LCB which have been well documented and the results have been fabulous to say the least.

March 2022 LCB was diagnosed with a stress fracture in the neck of the Femur (thigh bone) stress bearing side (Hip stress fracture) my role in the rehabilitation of this possible career ending injury was quite simple just keep the muscles and surrounding Fascia mobile and reduce the tension and pulling forces to allow the fracture to heal as quickly as possible.

Which we managed to do in record time!

Lucy on the way to 2nd Place in the Kona World Ironman Championships 2022

My first semi working trip with Team LCB was in 2019 in Roth Germany for the Triathlon, I had an entry for the race and went to their home stay to treat Lucy before the race.

My next working trip was to Utah 2021 just after the Covid 19 scenario and LCB Race team started the build for the IM 70.3 World Championships in St George Utah.

We all stayed in a large cabin in Cedar Highlands Cedar City Utah at altitude of 2350m and we trained and worked in Cedar City (CC) at 1900m. I was the complete Soigneurs (with duties imposed by myself) Chauffeur, Chef, Shopper, Physio plus a few more.

That trip went all to plan and LCB won the World Title.

In 2022 LCB race team spent 1-month early July-August in the CARD in Sierra Nevada Granada Spain at 2250m of altitude. We all worked hard getting LCB back to full fitness and ready for the season ahead that nearly did not happen.

First race back was WTC World Long course Championship August 2022 in Samorin Slovenia LCB finished 1st, next Race PTO Dallas September 2022 LCB finished 3rd among a great start list, at this point I was in The Big Island of Hawaii setting up the training camp (loosely speaking) in Waikoloa awaiting the arrival of LCB and Reece from Dallas ready for my duties as the Soigneurs.

Ironman World Championship Kona 2022 LCB finish 2nd a great achievement in that humidity and the class in the field, next stop Ironman 70.3 World championships St George Utah as the last trip was a success LCB Race team set up camp in a similar but smaller house in Cedar Highlands and trained as before in Cedar City for the upcoming championships.

This time we had a Storm the first snows of the season in the area having a white out and stranded in the hill for 36 hours, the day of the race was very, very cold (it’s the same for all the athletes) after a great start and digging deep LCB finished 4th (Chocolate Medal) by 20 seconds.

This Trip was 7 weeks long and we did not kill each other, very proud to be asked and been included in this Team. Let's see what the season 2023 brings!
